SRH has reduced the impact of disabilities on the socio-economic life of leprosy-afflicted people, thus enabling them to generate income and maintain a stable occupation to support themselves. There are facilities within the institution where ambulatory inpatients receive vocational training. Inmates are trained in tailoring, weaving and candle making. Trained inmates are working on hand looms and producing bandage cloth and gauze for use in the hospital. The technical rehabilitation workshop offers training in arc and gas welding, machining, spray painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. Hospital equipments, like trolleys, wash basin stands, steel beds etc. and garbage collecting rickshaws used by various Municipalities are manufactured here. In the year 2012-2013, SRH provided 700 garbage rickshaws to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. All the maintenance work at the Institution is performed by the inmates themselves. Among them are experienced carpenters, masons, plumbers, electricians and drivers. Some of them are employed in the Hospital section as ward boys, ward girls and helpers.
